Advanced Resource Managers (ARM), one of the UK’s leading technical recruiters, has published research on the future of the technology recruitment market. The findings point to increasingly difficult staffing challenges, as demand for scarce skills grows and hirers are required to move quickly to secure talent in an increasingly competitive market.

ARM’s report, based on data collected through interviews with CIOs, IT Directors and consultants, offers a qualitative view on the current market, a salary survey, plus the panel’s predictions for recruitment trends in 2014.

Key findings include:

·      The greatest challenges facing businesses are data management and security, cloud services, bring your own device (BYOD), and mobile technologies

·      The most exciting opportunities are offered by mobile, the cloud, open source databases, predictive analytics and 4G

·      Issues with staff retention and attraction are widespread, and are set to continue as demand for cross-domain skills increases.

Commenting on the report’s publication, Les Duncan, MD of ARM said:

“Gaining an in-depth understanding of our customers’ hiring challenges is vital for ARM, because it enables our specialist recruitment divisions to anticipate and provide the services that they require. By listening to our customers, we can grow the relevant networks to match people with niche skills to niche positions. We understand the value of this data and wanted to share it, as we believe the findings – and the salary survey data in particular – will have broad appeal to employers and job hunters alike.”
