Seamless Media wins two Prestigious IVCA Awards (2011) Created on 06/04/2011 11:08:00
Their award-winning film ‘Reivers 12’ produced for Children with Leukaemia and Chase Children’s Charity won a Gold Award in the Best Original Music and Sound Design category; and a Silver Laurus Award, given for the most outstanding production achieved for a budget of less than £15,000.
Now in their 23rd year the IVCA Awards are the world’s largest annual corporate communications awards and are recognised internationally as the highest accolades which can be awarded for creativity, originality, effectiveness and production expertise in visual communication. This year the ceremony, held on 25th March at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, was attended by over 700 leading representatives of the corporate communications industry, film and TV commissioners and clients.
The winning film was written and directed by Seamless Media’s Ian Thatcher and Jonathan de Jongh, with the award winning music and audio provided by the University of Chichester’s Crispin Ward and local sound engineer Simon Thompson. The film was shot for a Langstone based amateur rowing team, The Reivers 12, who in 2010 participated in the London to Paris rowing challenge for charity. The film was part of the fundraising promotional material used to achieve over £90,000 for Children with Leukaemia and Chase Children’s Charity.
In an industry that is amidst change and diversification led by the BBC’s move to Manchester and in a time when mainstream broadcasters are actively seeking content produced by regional production companies, Director of Photography Jonathan de Jongh comments: “This short film demonstrates the potential that the local area has as a film location. It never ceases to amaze me that we can be shooting in open water and then 30 minutes later be on a different location in the middle of the South Downs”.
Ian Thatcher, Seamless Media’s Managing Director commented: “Over the last 3 years, Seamless Media has strived to be recognised as a leading creative hub on the South Coast, demonstrating to local, national and international business that innovative, creative media production does not just happen in London. These awards are very much the next chapter of that story, as we look forward to growing our business here on the South Coast.”
Marco Forgione, IVCA Chief Executive commented “Once again I was astounded by the diversity and creativity of this year’s entries and delighted that the IVCA Awards are able to recognise and reward such exceptional talent. To be shortlisted as a finalist is excellent but to win is a tremendous achievement. In awarding Seamless Media both a Gold and Silver award for their film “Reivers 12”, the judges were impressed by the high calibre of skills, originality and expertise displayed. Huge congratulations to Seamless Media for their innovative and much deserved award-winning entry that is an inspiration to all of us in the visual communications industry. ”
Gary Medlow, LTP Managing Director comments: “What can I add but congratulations to Seamless as their creativity is recognised and rewarded – well done!”
