The need
The most common crimes affecting businesses are vehicle break-ins and thefts of work equipment from the workplace, with internet fraud, property damage and damage to tools and equipment not far behind.
The aims of Business Watch
The Business Watch scheme was set up to combat just this sort of crime:
- Enabling businesses to take an active part in preventing and reducing crime on their business premises.
- Sharing best practice, raising business crime prevention awareness and improving communication between members through meetings and newsletters.
- Promoting increased standards for business security.
The Langstone Event
The Hampshire Police Business Watch will be holding this free event in the Auditorium at Langstone Technology Park, Langstone Road, Havant PO9 1SA, from 11am-2pm on Friday 21 September. It will offer a wealth of practical advice to managers of offices in Havant and surrounding areas on combating business crime and how to protect against it.
Businesses from the area surrounding the Langstone Technology Park, which offers professionally managed rental office space for the Portsmouth area, are invited to attend the event which will be hosted by the local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
A variety of agencies will be coming along to pass on their safety advice and demonstrate a range of security related products and services to combat business crime. The event will also offer additional networking opportunities with other fellow business and community representatives.
