Fasset is known for its support of Apprentices and involvement with young people through the Portsmouth EBP; as well as being an integral part of the overall business community in the region. It has always recognised talent and committed to invest, mentor and nurture where it feels it adds real value to its business. All staff where appropriate are encouraged and supported to gain further education and Fasset prides itself on being a professional and people-focussed organisation.
James studied Accounting with Business Law at nearby Portsmouth University and after gaining some office experience, was looking for a new challenge. Fasset offered him that challenge with a newly created Business Analyst position within the Procurement team. The role is diverse covering contract management and negotiation across Fasset’s property portfolio, focussing on delivering business improvements, delivering efficiency, performance improvements and savings; in addition to specific project secondments and overall performance analysis of procurement. Of his role James comments: “Being the link between finance and business is like having an access-all-areas pass. I have to integrate with all areas of the business from engineering to IT (and everywhere in between) and gain a real understanding of how all of the pieces fit together. My role is challenging but hugely rewarding when recommendations are implemented and efficiencies are realised”.
Amy completed her BA (Hons) in Business Studies in July 2011 and after working as an Account Assistant for a year, she joined the Fasset Finance team. She comments: “Fasset offered the opportunity for a varied, challenging and exciting role in a dynamic workplace environment. I am on a steep learning curve also being involved with ad-hoc projects such as CSR and environmental and it is all fantastic experience. So far, so good!”
Gary Medlow, Managing Director of Fasset Ltd also comments: “Facilities management is often underrated yet here at Fasset nothing could be further from the truth. Both Amy and James have the opportunity to gain an invaluable understanding of a varied, dynamic and process focussed business in action. They have responsibility for delivering specific targets and projects and in order to accomplish this, they have had to integrate quickly with the existing team. They are talented individuals who bring fresh thinking into the business and I am confident that this is a great start for their career development paths”.
