Langstone Team Running For Rowans Hospice Created on 07/10/2011 09:57:00 An 8-strong team from Fasset, the company who operate Langstone Technology Park are training hard for the forthcoming 10-mile Great South Run 2011 challenge, in support of the Rowans Hospice.
They decided to support Rowans as many have lost or know people affected by cancer and this local hospice provides exceptional care for people with life limiting illnesses, their families and carers. Established since 1994, Rowens has helped more than 6,000 patients and families across Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. The services are free from discrimination and free of charge, but Rowens need to raise over £4 million each year to continue with their work.
The team are regularly spotted during lunchtime training sessions and are all confident that they will not only complete in a respectable time, but will raise vital funds for such a worthwhile cause.
Gary Medlow, Managing Director of Fasset has pledged a £100 donation to Rowans for all of his team who achieve their predicted finish times; plus as an additional incentive he will donate £10 for every minute achieved below this time. He comments: “Rowans is an inspiring charity and one we are proud to be supporting. Being a voluntary organisation it relies on public support so events like this are an excellent way to fundraise. The Fasset Team have all set themselves tough personal challenges in the hope that it will encourage donations and we ask that people dig deep and pledge whatever they can afford.”
By sponsoring the team, people are supporting a local facility that is there in a time of need.
